Build your own fly wallet out of simple materials you can buy at almost any craft store with the instructions below.
Materials
- 1 piece 2mm craft foam size: 8.5"x5.5" (this is a half standard sheet of craft foam)
- 2 pieces 2mm craft foam size: 5.5"x 8cm
- Adhesive/glue: I'm using pump
Step 1: Glue Smaller Foam pieces to larger piece. One piece along the bottom then the next about a centimeter above the first place, this leaves room for a hinge/fold when you close the wallet. Stack books on top of the foam to clamp it until the glue dries.
Step 2: Tape along the top edge and across the hinge
Step 3: Fold tape down along top edge and trim excess tape.
Step 4: Tape edges. Overlap about one cm on the inside and fold the rest over to the outside.
Step 5: Tape Bottom Edge in similar manner as the sides. Use a second piece of tape on the top edge to reinforce and clean up the side tape.
Step 6: Use a Hole Punch to create a hole along the top edge. It will be fine like this however, you can add a grommet for added strength.
Step 7: Remove the core of the parachute cord, flatten the remaining sheath material, then fuse (melt) the ends with a lighter.
Step 8: Tie a bowline or other nonslip loop knot to the grommet
Step 9: Personalize your fly wallet, load it up with bugs, and go fishing!
